Specialist recruitment consultancy Unity Personnel has set up a new service to help combat the large number of error-ridden CVs they receive.
70% of the CVs submitted to Unity carry spelling errors, with 55% having grammatical errors. This means a huge number of applicants are failing at the earliest stage and potentially ruining their chances of securing the perfect job.
Unity, who recruit for a number of different sectors including Engineering and Technical, IT, Sales and Marketing, Accountancy and Finance and Office Personnel are warning candidates that not checking their CVs before submitting them will not only set back their job quest, but could also alienate a huge number of employers.
The number of errors in applications has prompted Unity Personnel to set up an exclusive CV Amnesty Service, which allows candidates to send their CV directly to one of Unity’s expert consultants and receive tailored advice on how it can be improved.
Alison Haw, Recruitment Director for Unity Personnel commented “We see a lot of great CVs, but these statistics are very concerning. There is more competition for jobs than ever before, so in order to secure the best opportunities, candidates have to present the best image of themselves to potential employers. Just one spelling mistake can mean a candidate is not short-listed and we are hoping our expert advice will make it easier for jobhunters to secure their ideal job.”
People looking for some advice on how to improve their CV to help them get their perfect job should email their CV to cvamnesty@unitypersonnel.co.uk.
