Demand for more staff has gone through the roof as Yorkshire and National businesses aim to beat the threat of a recession, according to Leeds recruitment specialists Unity Personnel.
Specialist consultancy Unity has even had to recruit more staff itself to cope with increased demand from businesses in Yorkshire and Nationally.
Despite warnings of a recession, Unity says growth in the IT and Engineering sectors has forced it to add two experienced members of staff to its team – Shazia Hussain joins Unity’s IT recruitment team and Mini Hussain (no relation) joins Unity’s Engineering Department.
Nick Tomkinson, Commercial Director for Unity, commented: “2008 has been an extremely successful year for us, with many companies recruiting new staff in order to combat the financial downturn.
“Niche markets such as IT and Engineering are flourishing, and our expertise in these markets has allowed us to provide an effective service. Adding two consultants with such experience to the team really demonstrates our commitment to this.”
Shazia Hussain spent seven years working in IT in the City of London before relocating to Yorkshire. She has experience working for a number of technology companies delivering computer software consultancy to the Financial Markets and will spearhead the development of Unity’s IT department, recruiting high-end developers and technical architects for financial companies and Microsoft Gold partners, throughout the UK.
She said: “Unity’s approach of applying management consultancy to recruitment, as well as their understanding of the sectors they are working for, really makes them leaders in their field. I am looking forward to developing our provisions of expert IT staff and positioning the department as a leading IT recruiter.”
Mini Hussain will focus on expanding the Engineering business within the South Yorkshire region. She brings with her a specialist understanding of the regional market, as well as good contacts which will enable her to help build Unity’s profile as an expert engineering recruiter in the region.
She says: “With the engineering market so buoyant at the moment, I will be driving forward the company’s reputation as an expert in the sector. By building on my previous experience, I hope to secure Unity’s reputation as a professional, expert recruiter.”
The new additions to the Unity team both have a wealth of sector-specific experience, and an in-depth understanding of the markets they are recruiting for. This will allow Unity to continue their delivery of outsourced personnel solutions, providing Clients with more than just a search and selection offering.
